Paul Thurmond and Tim Scott will be facing off Thursday in a Republican 1st Congressional District Runoff Debate in Myrtle Beach.

The Grand Strand Business Association, Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association are co-hosting the event, which features local media as facilitators on a Q&A panel.

The debate will be held from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort & Spa at Grand Dunes, 8400 Costa Verde Dr. in Myrtle Beach. This event is open to the public. Seating is limited.

Franklin Daniels, incoming chairman of the MBACC will moderate the debate.

“We’re pleased the two candidates have agreed to participate and I look forward to a spirited debate that will help local voters better understand the differences between the two candidates,” GSBA President Mike Wooten said.
